Robert Pepper, President and Chairman:
Mr. Pepper is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Yava’s parent, Yava Technologies Inc. (YTI). YTI has developed a number of eco-friendly technologies including a process to profitably remediate steel mill and foundry waste and a process to produce high performance silica for the production of tires that increase fuel efficiency and safety. Mr. Pepper founded an investment firm in Toronto Canada and was instrumental in securing the investments and government support YTI and Yava required to develop their technologies. He has long standing relationships with several agencies of the federal government of Canada that have assisted YTI’s and Yava’s research efforts. He worked with the federal government and private investors to establish a state-of-the-art research facility for YTI and Yava at Cape Breton University (CBU) in Nova Scotia Canada. He led the work to secure the financing for Yava with the federal agency SDTC, the government of Quebec, Export Development Canada and various other financial entities.
Madhav Dahal Ph.D.:
VP Technical: Dr. Dahal holds the senior technical position with Yava and its parent, YTI and is responsible for directing the development of their technical programs. Dr. Dahal received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Newcastle, Australia, specializing in manganese dioxide and also served as a research chemist. He was invited to do his post-doctoral research with Professor Brian Conway of the University of Ottawa, who at the time was widely considered to be one of the world’s leading electrochemists. Dr. Dahal worked closely with Mr. Pepper to establish YTI’s and Yava’s state of the art research laboratory and pilot facility at CBU. He personally directed the development of YTI’s patented and patent pending processes in the areas of eco-friendly, high purity mineral recovery, industrial waste treatment and lithium ion battery materials. His work with YTI and Yava has demonstrated his ability to conceive a solution to an industrial problem and take that concept through bench scale, pilot plant testing through to commercial plant design. His work has created international interest in YTI’s technologies.
Gordon Baker, Q.C.,:
Mr. Baker has extensive experience in the area of business law, with emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing and structuring. He has acted for a number of public and private Canadian and multi-national clients, as general counsel or special counsel for specific projects and has led teams of lawyers with a wide range of experience and multi-disciplines to address complex and integrated projects and problems. He joined the board of directors in 2016 and acts as its Canadian legal counsel.
A scientist and successful serial entrepreneur with extensive chief level management experience related to product development, sustainability and commercialization of new technologies with 35 years of achievements in leadership roles. He has sat on the board of directors of 30 corporations including Canada’s Space Advisor, Atomic Energy of Canada, Mechtronix (Flight Simulators) and other public, private, federal government, crown corporations and NGO’s. He currently sits on the boards of 5 companies including a position as Chairman of Polar Research Canada, a Canadian federal research organization focused on increasing Canada’s scientific understanding of the arctic and Antarctic. Polar Research Canada recently completed the installation of a CAD $320 million (US $247 million) research facility north of the arctic circle in Canada. He has extensive knowledge of the global market for HPA including the major end users and the specifications required by different applications.
